Since early 2004, we have been working to develop an insurance program exclusive for VAOA members. That program is now in place and available for all VAOA members.
A critical part of the program is VAOA's partnership with COOL Insuring Agency.
We have long recognized that insurance is an important issue for our members. It is not only one of the largest expenses for apartment owners, but also an area of constant frustration and confusion. This is why VAOA has looked to align itself with insurance partners that truly understand and focus on the needs of the Vermont landlord.
COOL Insuring Agency was founded in 1857. It is one of the oldest insurance agencies in the United States, and is one of the largest and most innovative insurance agencies in the industry. They employ over 100 people in their Queensbury and Latham, New York locations. COOL has significant experience in designing and managing specific industry program insurance plans for target groups like the Vermont Apartment Owners Association. The strategic alliance that has been developed with VAOA and COOL is designed to provide qualified Vermont apartment owners with an excellent insurance coverage package, superior claims handling service, and most importantly, attractive premium rates.
In addition to quality insurance and stable premiums, VAOA members can receive a 5% discount on insurance premiums with selected carriers if they participate in VAOA sponsored safety credit seminars. The seminars will focus on apartment management “best practices" to insure quality property management, and reduced liability.

We will be announcing the dates and locations of the safety credit seminars. Remember, if you attend the seminars, you will be entitled to receive a 5% discount on the insurance premiums from selected insurance companies that participate in our program.
Please be aware that the underwriting process for this program is very detailed. You will be required to provide detailed information about your properties. So do not wait to start the application process until just before your current insurance is scheduled to expire.
