Enforcement Actions taken by AGO for Lead Paint

The Vermont Attorney General's Office (AGO) is enforcing the Lead Paint Law.
The AGO is pursuing landlords and property managers for the following violations:
- False Compliance Statements
- Failure to Comply with a Department of Health Work Plan
- Failure to Respond to a Department of Health Notice
- Failure to Comply with an Assurance of Discontinuance (AOD)
- Unsafe Work Practices

The new Compliance Statement is available on the VAOA website. A list of upcoming EMP Training Courses is also available. Beginning in January 2010, the Department of Health will have the ability to issue a fine for failure to file the Compliance Statement. Fines start at $50.00 and can be as high as $150.00.
